I think it's about the dot... some have trouble with the dot itself, sometimes the trouble comes from "sanifying" possible SQL code and avoiding SQL injections
"avoiding SQL injections"? This has to be the lamest excuse ever. Passwords are hashed. Therefore the output is always a SQL-safe string of same length. There is no sane technical reason to enforce sich strict rules for passwords. I can understand suggesting a minimum length for security reasons (12 characters or longer) but anything else is just annoying the users without any real reason.
